Ilaxten

Common use

Ilaxten belongs to the antihistamine group of medicines. It is prescribed to relieve symptoms associated with hay fever (allergic rhinitis), such as sneezing, itching, a runny or congested nose, and red or watery eyes, which are often triggered by allergens like pollen, dust, mold, or pet dander. This medication also treats hives (urticaria), which are itchy skin rashes caused by reactions to food, medications, or other environmental irritants.

Dosage and direction

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablet. You can take it with or without food. Remember to not exceed the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.

Precautions

Before using Ilaxten, notify your physician if you have moderate to severe kidney impairment or heart problems. If you have a history of QT Prolongation heart rhythm disorder, you should use Ilaxten cautiously as it may exacerbate your condition.

Contraindications

Ilaxten is contraindicated in patients with known allergies to bilastine. Also Ilaxten is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
If you have rare hereditary problems such as total lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption, avoid taking Ilaxten due to the presence of lactose in its composition.

Possible side effect

Common side effects of Ilaxten are dry mouth, sore throat, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, nausea, cold-like nose symptoms, or diarrhea.

Drug interaction

It is advised to avoid the concurrent use of antifungal medicines (ketoconazole), antibacterials (erythromycin), immune response-reducing medications (cyclosporine), cardiac medicines (diltiazem) and antiretrovirals (ritonavir) with this medicine as it can interact with these medications.

Missed dose

If you forget to take your Ilaxten, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and continue with your regular schedule. Never increase the frequency of doses without speaking to your doctor.

Overdose

If you accidentally take more Ilaxten than recommended, you may experience symptoms such as drowsiness, headache, and a rapid heartbeat. If these symptoms persist or worsen, let your doctor know.

Storage

Store Ilaxten at room temperature, ideally between 15-30°C. Protect the medicine from light and moisture. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children and pets.
