Lomexin

Common use

Lomexin is an antifungal medication used primarily to treat vaginal infections (vulvovaginitis) caused by fungi like Candida. It acts by inhibiting fungal growth, relieving symptoms such as itching, inflammation, and discharge.

Dosage and direction

Lomexin vaginal capsules are for vaginal use only and should not be swallowed. The capsule is designed to be inserted deep into the vagina. Insert as deeply as possible into the vagina, ideally while lying on your back with knees bent. Using at bedtime can minimize leakage and improve absorption. The medication is designed to melt; using sanitary pads can help manage any resulting discharge.

Precautions

Lomexin can damage latex contraceptives (condoms, diaphragms), making them ineffective. Use alternative contraceptives during treatment.
Use is generally not recommended during pregnancy or lactation.

Contraindications

Lomexin is contraindicated for individuals with a known hypersensitivity to imidazoles, such as clotrimazole or miconazole. It should not be used if you have a soy or peanut allergy, particularly with vaginal capsules.

Possible side effect

Common side effects include: local irritation, such as mild burning, itching, or redness at the application site, which usually resolve on their own. Prolonged use may lead to sensitization or allergic reactions, such as dermatitis.

Drug interaction

While no specific, significant drug interactions are widely documented due to its localized action, it is advised to inform doctors of all medicines, especially other topical agents.

Missed dose

Take the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take two doses at one time.

Overdose

If an overdose is suspected, contact emergency services immediately.

Storage

Lomexin should generally be stored at room temperature, protected from light and moisture, avoid freezing. Keep away from children and pets.
