Lotemax

Common use

Lotemax eye drops are used to decrease swelling and inflammation caused by conditions such as allergic conjunctivitis, acne rosacea, superficial punctate keratitis, herpes zoster keratitis, iritis, cyclitis and selected infective conjunctivitides. Lotemax eye drops are also used to treat post-operative inflammation after ocular surgery.

Dosage and direction

Wash your hands before applying Lotemax. Shake bottle vigorously before using. Apply one to two drops of Lotemax eye drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye four times daily. During the initial treatment within the first week, the dosing may be increased, up to 1 drop every hour, if necessary. Care should be taken not to stop therapy to early.

Precautions

Before using Lotemax, tell your healthcare provider about all your medical conditions, including if your have or had: Glaucoma; Cataracts or cataract surgery. This drug should be used during pregnancy only if the benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus.

Contraindications

Do not use Lotemax if you are allergic to loteprednol etabonate or any of the ingredients in Lotemax.

Possible side effect

The most common ocular adverse reactions occurring of patients in clinical studies included abnormal vision or blurring, burning on instillation, chemosis, discharge, dry eyes, epiphora, foreign body sensation, itching, and photophobia.

Drug interaction

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines that you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

Missed dose

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

Overdose

If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a emergency room at once.

Storage

Store upright between 15° to 25°C (59° to 77°F). Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
