Product description
Common use
Nailrox Nail Lacquer is an antifungal treatment used for the topical management of nail fungal infections (onychomycosis). It contains Ciclopirox, which penetrates the nail plate to deliver the active ingredient directly to the site of infection. By destroying the fungal cell membrane, this medication stops growth and prevents the infection from spreading.
Dosage and direction
Remove any loose nails using clippers or a filer before starting treatment. Apply the prescribed amount of lacquer evenly over the entire affected nail and 5 mm of surrounding skin once daily, preferably at bedtime. If possible, also apply it to the underside of the nail and hyponychium. Allow the lacquer to dry (about 30 seconds) before putting on socks or stockings. Wash your hands after application. Do not wash the treated area for at least 8 hours after application. Every week, remove the lacquer with alcohol, trim and file the nail to remove loose material, and then reapply fresh lacquer.
Precautions
Consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients with a history of severe skin conditions or allergies should exercise caution when using Nailrox Nail Lacquer (Ciclopirox).
Patients suffering from Diabetes and Peripheral Neuropathy should exercise caution while using Nailrox Nail Lacquer. Any associated procedures like nail avulsion and debridement might pose potential risks which need to be evaluated carefully.
Contraindications
Nailrox Nail Lacquer is contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to Ciclopirox or to any of the ingredients in the formulation.
Possible side effect
Nailrox Nail Lacquer may cause redness, burning or stinging, changes in nail shape or color, irritation, pain, itching, swelling of the treated skin, and ingrown toenails.
Drug interaction
Nailrox Nail Lacquer (Ciclopirox) can interact with other antifungal agents (such as fluconazole and ketoconazole) and steroidal creams (such as hydrocortisone and betamethasone).
Missed dose
If you forget to apply Nailrox Nail Lacquer, do it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next application, skip the missed dose. Do not apply extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.
Overdose
An overdose of topical Nailrox Nail Lacquer may cause excessive skin irritation. If this occurs, stop using the medication and inform your doctor immediately.
Storage
Store Nailrox Nail Lacquer in a tightly closed container at room temperature. Keep it away from heat or open flames because it is flammable. Avoid exposing the lacquer to light by keeping it in its original carton when not in use. Keep this medicine out of reach of children and pets.
