Product description

Common use

Nizoral Shampoo is primarily used for the treatment of dandruff (Pityriasis capitis). This shampoo helps control and prevent dandruff. It belongs to the azole antifungal class, specifically designed to inhibit the growth and spread of fungi on the scalp.

Dosage and direction

Wet your hair and scalp thoroughly with water. Apply a sufficient amount of Nizoral Shampoo to your scalp. Gently massage the shampoo into your scalp, working it into a lather. Make sure to cover the entire scalp area. Leave the shampoo on your scalp for 5 minutes. It allows the active ingredient, ketoconazole, to have sufficient contact time with the scalp. Rinse your hair and scalp thoroughly with water to remove all the shampoo.

Precautions

Since Nizoral Shampoo is applied externally, it has minimal interaction with liver function and generally has no significant effects on kidney health. Nevertheless, if you have a liver condition or any kidney-related concerns, it is prudent to speak to your doctor before use.

Contraindications

If you have acute inflammatory skin conditions, delay using this shampoo until the inflammation subsides, as it could exacerbate symptoms.
If you are allergic to ketoconazole or other azole antifungals, avoid using Nizoral Shampoo. The product may cause skin irritation in some individuals with hypersensitivity.

Possible side effect

Nizoral Shampoo may have the following common side effects: Scalp irritation; Oily or dry hair or scalp; Change in hair texture.

Drug interaction

Using this shampoo with corticosteroids (such as hydrocortisone) may reduce the antifungal effectiveness of ketoconazole. Avoid using this shampoo in conjunction with other topical antifungals like clotrimazole, as this can reduce effectiveness or increase local skin irritation.
Combining this shampoo with topical antibiotics, such as mupirocin, may raise the risk of skin reactions, including redness or contact dermatitis. Using this shampoo alongside topical retinoids (such as tretinoin) can increase skin irritation, including redness, peeling, and dryness.

Missed dose

If you have missed washing your hair with Nizoral Shampoo, simply resume your regular schedule and wash your hair with the shampoo the next time.

Overdose

Do not use this shampoo for more than the prescribed duration to avoid any kind of skin reactions.

Storage

Keep Nizoral Shampoo tightly sealed at a cool room temperature, ideally below 30°C. Store it in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Always ensure it's out of reach of children.
